Afghan National Police Training Launched.

Afghanistan’s Former Minister of Interior Mr. Hanif Atmar, at his meeting with our former Minister of Interiror, during his visit to our country in February 2010,  communicated his demand on the training of  15.000 Afghan Police Candidates in Turkey within the forthcoming 5 years; 3.000 candidates annually.

In accordance with this demand, the training of 492 Afgan Police Candidates was initiated in Sivas Police Vocational School on July 15, 2011 in line with the “Memorandum of Understanding” which was signed between our country and Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on May 5, 2011 and came into force on May 10, 2011 after having been published in the Official Gazette .

By means of education facilities and training support, our country will contribute $ 2.239.436 to the project which has a cost of $ 7.558.904 in total. An amount of $ 2.359.500 will be contributed by the USA with its title of a member of NATO Afghanistan Training Mission, and an amount of $ 2.959.968 will be provided by the Japanese Government.

“Afghan National Police Training Project” is not a bilateral project between two countries, but a concrete and crucial case of a multilateral cooperation.
